Well, the quiz hits the easy parts, but in trying the practice problems, I find that only some of the practice problems were explained in the review. If I already knew how to solve the problems, I wouldn't have needed this book in the first place. I have been studying out of this book for about a week and a half now, and I am growing increasingly frustrated. So why are they testing me on things they didn't explain. I also bought the Cliff's Math Review because of it's high reviews, and I do like it on it's own, because it does simplfy things, but it is sometimes challenging to cross-reference the Kaplan book with Cliffs. I have been out of college for 11 years now, and bought this book hoping for a thorough review. Unfortunately it glosses over some of the highlights, then gives you a quiz, and later more practice problems.
I suggest that study from variety of sources. This is not enough. Do not rely on 1 or 2 books only. The book is great in covering topics such as, geometry, word problems, basic arithmetic, and data Interpretation, but it does not cover topics like interest rate calculations, probability, counting Principle, sequence, advanced arithmetic practice questions, computation, etc. So, there is a lot that is missing here.
The practice tests and helpful hints throughout the book have really helped me a lot.
Overall I would recommend it, though it may be more catered to those with a lower score rather than those who already scoring high and wish to improve. I would have preferred that they introduce more new material. This is a good product if you struggle with math or are just looking to bring up your score. However compared to Kaplan's general exam book, it is a little repetitive.
A very decent book, but if you are going for 800, you will want to see tougher questions than those available in its "advanced" sections, especially on number properties and set probabilities.
